CGA Engineers was retained to assist the Ponca City Central Baptis Church in relocating their facilities to a new site to allow further growth and expansion of their operations. The new site was on the north edge of Ponca City at the intersection of Highway 77 and Highway 11. The church site sits on 70 acres the congregations has previously acquired. The scope of this project was to develop the northern seven acres for a new church building. The congregation had already purchased architectural plans for a new metal church building.
CGA Engineers scope of services included a full civil package for the development. This included grading plans for the building pad and a new parking lot. Ingress and egress from the parking lot included two access roads connecting to Highway 11. These connections required permitting with Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Additionally, the grading plans included stormwater plans and erosion control plans. The scope also included utility plans for the water, sewer, and electric service. Disposal of wastewater included the investigation of several options including connection to the Ponca City system, an aerobic system, and a sewer lagoon. The connection to the city sewer system proved to be infeasible due to the distance to the nearest connection. Likewise, the aerobic system proved less than ideal give the high variation of flows between days with services and days without and also issues of maintenance. After working with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, a lagoon system was selected. The lagoon system worked well given the large amount of land owned by the church and due to its lower initial cost and operating cost. CGA also provided general engineering services during construction in coordination with the owner and general contractor. Site Design:
