CGA Engineers, Inc. entered engineering services with Cherokee Nation Entertainment, LLC for the design of the auxiliary lanes located along US Highway 62 adjacent to the Fort Gibson Casino. The design included modifications to Highway 62 which included lengthening the west bound left turn lane, widening the median opening and adding an acceleration right turn lane with a divided raised median off of the highway. The modifications were approved by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Cherokee Nation Enterprise anticipates that truck drivers turn into the road to patronize the casino; therefore, CGA Engineers used AutoTURN software to evaluate the left turn access road for sufficient layout space to ensure that truck traffic will not experience problems. In order to minimized and retain the existing drainage layout, the existing RCB was extended and an additional 600 LF of RCP with new area inlet was added. The existing grass channel was modified to allow for a controlled discharge outlet. The stormwater will drain into the original ODOT drainage system and ODOT will provide maintenance of new structures. This project involved coordination between ODOT Engineering field offices, Cherokee Nation Roads and Bridges department, USCOE local office.
The following engineering services were performed for this section of US HWY 62:
