The downstream reach of Joe Creek between E. 71st St. and E. 61st St. existing channel section had major structural failure and erosion due to failure of and undermining of storm structures and existing concrete lining. Toe and drainage structures experienced a progressive collapse of the Fabriform liner and check dams erosion of rip rapped earthen side slopes.
Design alternatives were developed taking into consideration the nature of existing soil conditions, future rehabilitation measures, erosion of banks and environmental impact. The final design combined bank stabilization measures, armor cable at high sections and replacement of existing soil with a design alternative that provided both flexibility, stability, minimized soil migration, and provided structural stability to the channel. Rip rap was sized based on the best engineering solution from three different sources including Corps of Engineers HEC 11 analysis, Federal Highway Administration Bank stabilization analysis, and City of Tulsa Stormwater Management Design Manual. The best solution provided a conservative cost benefit. Construction Cost - $1,088,725.00 |
