CGA Engineers was selected as the civil consultant by ONE Architecture, LLC to design and prepare plans for an elder center for he Pawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The 2 acre site is located approximately 0.25 mile east of Highway 18 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. 0.75 acres of the 2 acre site is being developed for the Elder Center. The tasks included site survey, grading, drainage, utilities, surfacing, erosion control, and stormwater management.
Utilities included extending water, sanitary sewer, electrical, gas and telecommunication lines into and adjacent to the property. The domestic water service and fire supply line were designed to bore under a recently constructed street. (The construction of the street was being completed as the design was in progress.) Boring the lines under the street instead of open trenching allowed for access to remain to the building across the street and saved money by not trenching through a new road. The building is designed as a center for the elderly. Therefore, the parking lot and all pedestrian access on site follow ADA guidelines. The building also incorporates a kitchen that receives deliveries from semi trucks. The pavement around the building was designed so trucks would be ale to maneuver in and around the parked vehicles and an overhead canopy. AutoTURN was used for modeling traffic flows and maneuvers for loading and unloading zones. The site-grading plans are detailed and provide coordinate and elevation information for all points necessary for a surveyor to layout the construction staking. The contractor is not required to develop information form assumptions or layout the grading contours. The layout information is explicit. |
